Vehicle manufacturers prefer to keep their upcoming products under wraps until they are prepared for a grand reveal. Test cars are usually outfitted with extensive camouflage coverings and cladding to obscure and distort the vehicle’s shape from prying eyes, but Lincoln seems to be failing at preventing people from gazing at its revamped Corsair crossover. Recent spy shots depict the Lincoln undergoing testing with a large sticker of Kanye West’s face affixed to the rear window.

The latest images do not provide an answer to this peculiar choice, nor do they disclose any new information about the updated model. Nonetheless, it is observed sporting an unusual new device on the rear fender with wires extending from underneath the vehicle. Presumably, Lincoln is conducting continued testing related to the vehicle’s emissions. Previous Corsair spy shots also hinted at some irregularity with the exhaust tips at the rear, suggesting that Lincoln may be planning adjustments to the powertrains, though the specifics remain a mystery.

Lincoln provides the Corsair with three engine options – the turbocharged 2.0-liter, the turbocharged 2.3-liter, or the 2.5-liter plug-in hybrid. In 2026, Lincoln will introduce the all-electric Corsair-E, with the brand set to release its maiden electric vehicle before then. While a major overhaul under the hood for the crossover seems unlikely, any modifications made by Lincoln could result in enhanced power or increased efficiency.

The camouflage on the front of the crossover remains intact, indicating that Lincoln will focus most of the styling changes there. The coverings are anticipated to conceal updated bumper styling, refreshed headlights, and a revised grille. Although the camo conceals the finer design elements of the model, it is expected to receive a subtle facelift. Conversely, no camouflage can be seen at the rear, hinting that it might remain unaltered for the 2023 model.

For the replacement of the MKC in 2020, Lincoln introduced the Corsair as a part of its strategy to set its products apart from its Ford counterparts by reverting to using actual names for its vehicles. Despite its new name and fresh design, sales have not been as strong, particularly with growing competition. Although the vehicle is only two years old, there are expectations to unveil a refreshed version this year before it becomes available for purchase in the 2023 model year.
