Imagine cruising through the city in a $200,000 Lamborghini alongside a friend, pumping up the music and feeling a sense of financial triumph. Suddenly, you notice a warmth at your back. After all, Seattle is experiencing some hot weather this week. But then, an alarming scent catches your attention.
Smoke.
What do you do?
Sadly, this scenario became a reality for the driver of a Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera this past weekend in downtown Seattle. What began as a small puff of smoke quickly escalated into a fierce blaze that engulfed the entire vehicle in less than ten minutes, all captured in high-definition video by a nearby security camera.
The recorded footage shows traffic halted at a light at the intersection of 7th Avenue and Union Street, just a block from Seattle’s large convention center and less than a quarter-mile from the iconic Pike Place Fish Market. As the white Lamborghini enters the scene, it remains stationary at a green light. Suddenly, the driver exits the vehicle and lifts the engine cover, revealing both smoke and flames.
Things take a turn for the worse from there. The passenger eventually exits the car too, although not without a troubling delay spent inside a vehicle that is literally on fire. After a handheld fire extinguisher proves ineffective, the duo can only watch helplessly from across the street as their supercar becomes engulfed in flames.
Minutes later, the Seattle Fire Department arrives and manages the situation, but it is clear that the Gallardo has suffered total destruction. In a final blow, a firefighter pries off the previously intact hood to check for any remaining hot spots..
