Kia aims to have a total of 14 electric vehicles in its collection by 2027, including specially designed models tailored to specific customer requirements, such as delivery vans and shuttles.
At the 2024 CES, Kia showcased some of its future purpose-built vehicles through concept designs, although no details about the powertrains were revealed.
Recently, a disguised prototype for a production model has been spotted. This midsize van is expected to be named PV5 when it goes into production, as this name was also associated with the concept shown at CES.
The concept model measured nearly 183 inches in length with a wheelbase of around 118 inches, and the production version appears to be similar in size. Additionally, a larger van known as the PV7, which measures over 207 inches in length, was also presented.
The PV5 will be versatile in its configurations, potentially serving as a delivery van, passenger van, camper van, or taxi. Kia has also indicated plans for a specific setup intended for use as a robotaxi, which the company intends to operate itself.
Furthermore, Kia plans to provide the PV5 as a chassis cab, allowing owners to customize the vehicle to perfectly meet their needs, a process known as upfitting.

The PV5 is anticipated to make its debut in 2025 as the first of Kia’s new purpose-built vehicles.
In addition, Kia will introduce a dedicated vehicle designed for taxi services that will be based on its Niro compact crossover.
