In August, renowned test driver Andy Wallace reached a staggering speed of 304.773 mph in a “near-production” prototype of the Bugatti Chiron at Volkswagen’s well-known test track in Ehra-Lessien, Germany. This announcement hinted that Bugatti would be making a limited number of cars capable of achieving this record speed, specifically the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+, which is priced at an astonishing $5.19 million.
Bugatti plans to produce only 30 units of the Super Sport 300+. Each vehicle features an impressive 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 engine, affectionately dubbed “Thor,” which delivers a staggering 1,578 horsepower. The cars boast a sleek longtail design with exposed carbon fiber. However, the actual production model—if one can call it that—will include modifications to prevent anyone from attempting to replicate Bugatti’s remarkable 300+ mph speed on public roads.
The Chiron Super Sport 300+ will replace the extensive onboard equipment, including laptops and telemetry systems, with a sophisticated two-seat cockpit made from carbon fiber and Beluga Black leather (which is not sourced from whales). The ride height has been slightly elevated for improved practicality on the road. The most significant feature, however, is the electronic speed limiter, which is reported by Motor1 to be set at 273.4 mph. It remains uncertain if Bugatti will permit owners to modify their vehicles to reach the 300+ mph specification.
If you’re interested in acquiring one, you will need to set aside $5.19 million and act quickly. As mentioned, only 30 of these vehicles will be manufactured, and according to Motor1, just 29 remain available after a wealthy attendee at the Bugatti launch event secured one by placing a deposit on the spot..
