In recent times, Lincoln has been relatively quiet in terms of future vehicle announcements. While a refreshed Corsair is on the horizon, the luxury marque has remained surprisingly silent amidst the continual stream of new electric vehicle reveals from other automakers. This silence is particularly notable considering Lincoln’s parent company Ford has been making waves with models like the F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E.
However, it seems that this is about to change. There has been a fresh revelation today regarding a new all-electric concept car from Lincoln, set to be unveiled on April 20. If you’re trying to recall the initial mention, it’s understandable if it slipped your mind. Lincoln first hinted at its debut electric vehicle back in June 2021, promising a launch in 2022.
At that time, it wasn’t clear whether the vehicle would be a production model or simply a concept, but now it seems the latter is the case. A couple of enhanced screenshots from a new teaser video suggest that the concept could be an SUV.
This development is not surprising for several reasons. Firstly, SUVs are a dominant force in the automotive industry, particularly at Ford. Secondly, teaser images released last June depicted a futuristic interior of a two-row, four-seater SUV with expansive side windows, and the latest teaser video from Lincoln seems to reinforce this impression.

In describing its concept, the luxury brand states that it “serves as a source of inspiration for our forthcoming fully electric Lincoln vehicles.” Whether this concept will be a bold departure or a step closer to production remains to be revealed. With competitors like BMW and Mercedes-Benz already making strides in the electric SUV segment, the pressure is likely on Lincoln to launch its own offering sooner rather than later.
The scheduled debut on April 20 indicates that, despite labeling this a global concept, Lincoln has a keen eye on the Chinese automotive market. The 2022 Beijing Auto Show was originally set to kick off on April 21, hinting that Lincoln intended to present this concept at the event. However, due to a resurgence of COVID-19 cases in the region, the show has been indefinitely postponed.
