Due to the impact of Hurricane Helene, several cruise ships have postponed their returns to Florida this week.
The storm, which made landfall on Friday as a Category 4 hurricane, prompted the closure of ports across the state.
Four vessels departing from Port Canaveral, including ships from Royal Caribbean, MSC, Disney Cruise Line, and Carnival, were forced to delay their scheduled arrivals on Thursday and Friday.
In an online update, the port stated, “Port Canaveral is open, but please note that arrival and departure times for cruise ships have been delayed, impacting embarkation schedules for outgoing sailings.”
Additionally, ships setting sail from Miami on Thursday and Friday also had to adjust their itineraries due to adverse weather.
Among the affected vessels are the Carnival Sunrise, the Allure of the Seas, and the Independence of the Seas.
In Jacksonville, the Carnival Elation had its return postponed from its planned arrival on Thursday.
Consequently, the ship is now expected to dock at JAXPort between Friday and Saturday.
Similarly, the Carnival Paradise is experiencing delays, with its turnaround in Tampa now pushed back by at least a day from the original Thursday schedule.
Royal Caribbean’s Serenade of the Seas is also returning to Tampa two days later than planned due to the port’s closure.
As per an update on the company’s website, a nine-night cruise that was originally set to depart on Thursday will now be adjusted to a seven-night journey.
Departing from Tampa on Sunday, the cruise will have a revised itinerary, including stops in Mexico, Honduras, and Belize, visiting Cozumel, Costa Maya, Roatán, and Belize City.
The company stated, “This situation is fluid, and we’re dedicated to keeping you updated every step of the way. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.”
