The 2019 GMC Sierra Elevation is set to enhance the latest lineup of Sierra pickups, which includes the Denali, SLT, and AT4 models. With its stylish design, enhanced performance capabilities, and cutting-edge technology, the Elevation aims to appeal to modern drivers.
During its recent launch, the new Sierra showcased a strong build featuring sculpted fenders, a prominent hood, and an eye-catching grille. The 2019 Elevation further stands out with its body-colored door handles, bumpers, and grille surround, complemented by numerous black accents such as the grille insert, tow hooks, side window trim, and standard 20-inch aluminum wheels. Rich Latek, GMC’s marketing director, has described the vehicle as “youthful” and “athletic.”
Illuminating the path ahead are powerful LED headlights equipped with signature C-shaped daytime running lights, along with LED fog lamps. This distinctive C-shaped design is also echoed in the taillights.
The Sierra Elevation will be offered exclusively in a double cab format, with options for two- or four-wheel drive. The new double cab design provides nearly three additional inches of legroom compared to its predecessor and boasts what is claimed to be best-in-class front head and legroom.
The base model Elevation will feature an all-new 2.7-liter turbocharged engine, likely a four-cylinder similar to the one in the 2019 Silverado, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that delivers a commendable 310 horsepower and 348 pound-feet of torque. For those seeking more power, a 5.3-liter V8 engine is available, also coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission and designed to operate on as few as one cylinder when needed. An anticipated 3.0-liter turbo-diesel inline-six engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission is expected to debut in early 2019.
To tackle different terrains, the Elevation features a Traction Select System, allowing drivers to modify shift points, throttle response, and more. The optional “X31 Off Road package” includes upgrades like Rancho shocks, a locking rear differential, Hill Descent Control, underbody skid plates, a heavy-duty air filter, and a dual exhaust system. This package also comes with a two-speed transfer case with low-range gearing and all-terrain tires. The ProGrade Trailering System, equipped with a Trailering App, will assist with towing requirements.
In terms of utility, the Elevation comes with a standard box that provides an impressive 89.1 cubic feet of cargo space, featuring additional tie-downs, improved cargo lighting, and larger corner steps for easier loading. A 120V outlet in the rear is available for powering auxiliary equipment.
Inside, the center console will feature a new infotainment system with a high-resolution eight-inch touchscreen and support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. For audio enthusiasts, a seven-speaker Bose premium audio system is available as an upgrade to the standard six-speaker setup. Drivers will also benefit from voice recognition and various optional in-vehicle apps, along with standard USB Type A and Type C ports for charging mobile devices.
