EON, the automotive dealership arm of DRB-Hicom, has partnered with the SOLS Foundation to provide clean, renewable energy to Orang Asli communities in Pahang through the installation of solar panels.
The agreement was formalized at a ceremony today at EON’s Glenmarie headquarters, where EON CEO Akkbar Danial presented 33 solar panels to the SOLS Foundation for delivery and installation in Kampung Binjai, Rompin.
“At EON, we recognize that our achievements are intertwined with the welfare of our communities. Initiatives like this one allow us to drive positive change by creating new opportunities and enhancing the quality of life for those in need,” stated Akkbar, who also serves as the head of automotive distribution at DRB-Hicom.
Akkbar further explained that the solar panel installations will ensure a reliable supply of electricity to the Kampung Binjai community, leading to improved living conditions, enhanced educational opportunities, and a boost to the local economy.
This initiative is part of EON’s Wheels of Hope 2.0 program, designed to empower activities that promote sustainability. “We are committed to finding innovative ways to support our local communities in collaboration with SOLS Foundation. The donation of the solar panels is a step forward in our mission to create a sustainable impact. Together, we are making a difference, one solar panel at a time,” he added.
SOLS Foundation is a non-profit organization in Malaysia dedicated to serving, educating, and empowering the bottom 40% of the population. It aims to provide free education, personal development, employment support, and energy access to rural Orang Asli and Orang Asal indigenous communities.
