- The curtain falls on the R35 Nissan GT-R in 2024
- A sweet sixteen years journey for the R35 Nissan GT-R
- Nissan has officially verified the upcoming GT-R generation
Nissan broke the news on Friday about the pricing details of two limited-edition models marking the grand finale of the current-gen GT-R, which has been in production for nearly two decades.
The T-spec Takumi and Skyline distinctive editions got introduced back in March. Nissan has now disclosed that the Takumi edition is priced from $152,985, while the Skyline edition kicks off at $132,985 (both inclusive of a mandatory $1,895 destination fee). These exclusives will land at U.S. dealerships this summer, with under 200 units earmarked for this market.
These limited-edition versions pay tribute to the enduring current iteration of the GT-R, identified by its R35 internal model code, which was unveiled in 2007 and hit the U.S. market as a 2009 model.

The Takumi Edition stands as a homage to the skilled craftspeople known as takumi, who handcraft the GT-R’s twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V-6 engine. Notable features include the Midnight Purple exterior with a Mori Green interior, along with a gold VIN plate and a red inscription on the plaque revealing the identity of the assembler of a particular car’s engine. Besides, akin to other T-Spec editions, the Takumi Edition comes equipped with carbon-ceramic brakes, 20-inch Nismo Rays wheels, and wider front fenders.
The Skyline Edition harks back to the GT-R’s roots as a performance variant of the Nissan Skyline prior to the dedicated R35 model’s inception. While none of the Skyline GT-R models were originally marketed in the U.S., they have garnered a devoted fan base here and some are now being imported under the 25-year rule. The Skyline Edition pays homage to these vehicles by donning the iconic Bayside Blue finish from the R34 GT-R, complemented by a Sora Blue interior.

Both exclusive editions are derived from the GT-R Premium trim. No enhancements in performance were unveiled, so anticipate the same 565 hp and 467 lb-ft as the Premium variant. Furthermore, the refreshed designs for the front and rear fasciae and rear wing introduced on other GT-R models for 2024 persist in these editions.
The return of the GT-R remains shrouded in mystery. At the 2024 New York auto show, Ponz Pandikuthira, Senior Vice President and Chief Planning Officer for Nissan North America, confirmed a forthcoming GT-R iteration, hinting that the nameplate might undergo a reinvention process. Some degree of electrification is probable, while the design could draw influence from the Hyper Force electric concept presented at the 2023 Tokyo auto show.
