Model Year: 2019 Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty Lone Star
Overview: In response to the significant truck market in Texas, Ram is reintroducing its unique Lone Star Heavy Duty edition specifically designed for this region. Notably, Texas accounts for one out of every five pickups sold in the United States. This high demand has prompted Ram, along with competitors like Chevrolet and Ford, to focus on delivering top-tier performance vehicles to Texas customers.
What’s New: The Lone Star trim features a variety of exterior enhancements that set it apart from the many other Ram trucks on Texas roads. The exterior shines with chrome accents on the grille surround, bumpers, and door handles. Buyers opting for the 20-inch aluminum wheels will also enjoy a chrome finish, while those sticking with the standard 18-inch steel wheels will have a simpler look.
Inside, the Ram maintains the comfort and convenience features found in its latest half-ton model. It includes a prominent 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment display, and the Lone Star name plate is clearly displayed on the dashboard. Customers can choose from four seating color combinations: Black/Diesel Grey, Black/Light Brown, Light Frost/Black, or all-Black premium cloth, catering to various tastes for style and luxury—an increasing trend in the truck market.
Buyers can further personalize their Lone Star with several additional options, such as the Sport Appearance and Black Appearance packages, allowing for a more individualized aesthetic. The emphasis on customization is a strong selling point for this model.
Quote: “The Ram Heavy Duty Lone Star edition is primarily a robust and hardworking truck designed to meet the expectations of Texas buyers,” remarked Reid Bigland, Head of Ram Brand. “Trucks play a crucial role in the Lone Star State, and Ram delivers the best blend of performance, strength, luxury, and technology in the market.”
Key Details: As with all 2019 Ram Heavy Duty trucks, the Lone Star offers two engine options: a standard 6.4-liter Hemi V8 producing 410 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque, and an optional 6.7-liter Cummins diesel inline-six. The Cummins engine is available in two configurations, with the base option generating 400 horsepower and 850 pound-feet of torque, while the high-output variant delivers an impressive 1,000 pound-feet of torque.
All Lone Star models are equipped with essential towing features, including Class V receiver hitches, electronic trailer brake controllers, and power trailer-tow mirrors. Given their intended use as work vehicles, these trucks come fully equipped for hauling tasks.
Thanks to its strong performance capabilities, the top-tier Ram model can tow up to 35,000 pounds, which is equivalent to around seven of the heaviest Ram Heavy Duty vehicles.
The 2019 Ram Heavy Duty Lone Star is offered in both two-wheel and four-wheel drive, as well as in Regular, Crew, and MegaCab configurations.
Pricing for the Ram 2500 Heavy Duty Lone Star starts at $37,645, while the 3500 version begins at $39,095. Ram has announced that these models will be available for purchase in the second quarter of 2019, so customers can expect to see them in Texas dealerships soon thereafter.
