For the first time in 15 years, Lexus is offering a sedan featuring a striking yellow exterior. Lexus Japan has revealed that the upcoming model of the GS F will be available in Flare Yellow. Also known as Naples Yellow in Europe and Japan, this vibrant color was first introduced on the luxury LC coupe. Earlier this year, Lexus expanded this lively color choice to the RC F Sport and RC F performance coupe.
This isn’t Lexus’s first foray into yellow vehicle exteriors. The LFA supercar, during its limited release, was available in Pearl Yellow. However, it was the first-generation IS 300 that paved the way for Lexus’s yellow options, as it offered Solar Yellow for the first three model years before discontinuing it, likely due to less favorable consumer reception.
Yellow is not the only bold color in the Lexus lineup. The GS F and RC F have previously been offered in an eye-catching orange shade called Molten Pearl. Additionally, the F Performance line is known for its signature color, Ultrasonic Blue Mica.
Currently, the Flare Yellow color option is only confirmed for Japan. A spokesperson from Lexus informed The Drive that information regarding the 2019 model year GS F for the United States will be released in early June.
The GS F is powered by a sophisticated 5.0-liter V8 engine sourced from the IS F, delivering 467 horsepower and 389 pound-feet of torque. This powerful engine is also featured in the RC F and LC 500 models, with the LC slightly upping the output to 471 hp. All three models are now available in the exciting Flare Yellow shade.
